Pros and cons of Pinball Arcade app for iPhone and iPad
Pinball Arcade app good for
Overall the game is good and fun, therere just some annoying bugs though: the menu will get crappy and not functional, app crashes after some time being sent to background (and player loses game progress) and also some tables like Judge Dredd and Black Hole feature some awkward physics glitches: if you hit the ball with the flippers, coming from a certain angle, will make the ball rest on the tip of the flipper rather unrealistically. Some UI improvements on the selection screens would also benefit the game big time.
This game is the ( . Y . )s. It need to be updated to the larger screen formats, and some way to toggle off special ball powers.
It was great the way it was...now they did some upgrade to the user interface and its just annoying.
Come on the new UI made it harder to find my Owens tables come on please fix
There doesnt seem to be any way to edit a previous reviewn at least no way that appears to be intuitive? So, Im writing a follow up in that after reinstalling the Pinball Arcade app, my previous issue with the update appears to be fixed. However, after uninstalling and reinstalling the app, it requires me to redownload all of my tables again. A minor issue for sure, but still a bit of a hassle.
Overall the app is still the best pinball simulator on the iPad that Ive found.
Great way to recreate my misspent youth. A lot of games here I played in the far off arcades of yesterday. Needs "Captain Fantastic"
Some bad moments
You have to login every time you launch the game and still your high scores are never saved. After every game, it freezes. Mediocre interface after update, a mess. Bugs and more bugs.
Was playing this game a few days ago, then an update came through today and now the tables are unplayable because it doesnt scroll anymore and I cant change any view perspectives. Please fix!!
The gameplay is fantastic, the graphics are nice and the selection of tables is great.
But the UI is clunky and poorly designed. Its very surprising given how well done the actual gameplay is, but it really is just awful. It has actually been broken for several updates now, with errors scrolling or selecting tables.
Tables are reasonably priced but it is very disappointing that you are required to make multiple purchases to get them on both your iOS and OSX devices.
I invested more than $100 into table packs and now it is broken!
Somehow FarSight dropped the ball and hired a designer who does not play pinball and does not understand that this App supposed to be a simulation of a real device and not a computer game.
I am unable to revert to an older version myself, but if FarSight is so arrogant to keep the current design, please make it at least possible to disable the achievement messages and the Pinball Wizard music.
Also I dont want to see the welcome message and log in message every time starting the app. I play as guest and never want to log in, I am not interested Game Center or to play online.
Just let me play pinball.
Seriously, its awful. They took an slightly dated interface that scrolled awkwardly but worked well and replaced it with garbage. Its like they studied good interface designs just so they could crap on it every way imaginable. How they thought this was something you would create, let alone release, is beyond me. It takes my favorite application and makes me hate it. Make sure to backup your save data, because it loses data on the updates. Also, the flipper button for Starship Troopers is ridiculously tiny.
They have the camera follow the ball, which gives the perspective youd of a hyper window licker.
Unplayable.
